Busy joking around!

So lately I’ve been wanting to do more writing – not just Hodgepodge, but maybe I”ll start getting up earlier and using that time to write.  Here’s hoping!  meanwhile lets Hodgepodge!

1. How did you welcome the month of July, and tell us one fun thing you did to celebrate the 4th. (or the weekend for any non-USA residents playing along today)
We had a really good weekend!  Got some chores done, spent time with good friends, had a church picnic, hosted small group dinner at our home, and then on the 4th we played games as a family and then went to the Hollywood Bowl and saw Chicago in concert!  I’m thoroughly exhausted, but in a good way!
2. Right now..what’s your favorite red thing? white thing? blue thing?
Red thing:  my geraniums in my garden
White thing:  a new flowy dress in my closet
Blue thing: the ocean I can see as I drive to work, and from the balcony in our workplace!

(I took this shot last week… man I love our town!)
3. Wave the white flag, raise a red flag, fly your freak flag…which ‘flag’ have you flown most recently? Explain.
Probably “Raise a red flag” – as new renters moved into our old home, and I’m debating going to warn them about the landlords.  Do I wish the previous renter had done us the same service?  Yes.
4. According to Cond Nast Traveler these are the seven best places to visit in July-
a boat safari in Botswanna’s Okavango Delta, Riviera Maya Mexico (it’s whale shark season and apparently you can swim with them), Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons, Pamploma Spain, St. Petersburg Russia, the Fuji Rock Festival at Mount Naeba Japan, the Salzburg Festival in Salzburg Austria

If time and money weren’t factors would you want to see any/all of these? Which would you most like to see and why?
Well sure I’d love to see all of them!  I’ve never been to any of those places – except for Yellowstone/Grand Tetons –  are they amazing!!!  I would love to swim with the whale sharks in Mexico… that would probably be top of my list!
5. Grilled cheese, pimento cheese, or mac and cheese…your favorite from the cheesy treats listed?
Oh my goodness – while I craved mac and cheese while I was pregnant I do love a good grilled cheese!  Yummmmm….. Have you seen the movie “Chef”? Really good movie!  But there’s a scene where he is making grilled cheese for his son, and my mouth was watering so badly!  Delish.
6. What makes you sweat?
Living in the south during the summer!  Oh wait, that’s not what they meant…
Rats and mice.  Sharks.  High cliffs with no railing.  Oh dear.
7. Your favorite movie with a ‘patriotic’ theme of some sort?
Band of Brothers!
8. Insert your own random thought here.
So last week was my boss’ birthday – he’s a great guy, and a lot of fun – kind of the goofy big brother to everyone in the office.  And he’s big on celebrations, and loves attention and joking around.  So it was only natural that the night before his birthday, my daughter, my co-worker Becky, and I went to the office and wallpapered his entire office in One Direction wrapping paper!  Desk, windows, computer monitor, tape dispenser, lamp, stapler, everything.  It. Was. Awesome.  And we had also taken advantage of a Groupon several months ago and purchased some giant cardboard heads of him – which we then used to create a “fake Peter” sitting at his desk, and peeking out from the door as you entered.  He absolutely loved it – had no idea what we were up to – and it is still up!  So much fun.

Well hello there! Thanks for stopping by! I'm a God loving, glass-is-half-full kind of woman who loves coffee, good chocolate, and walks on the beach. I've got three amazing kiddos and a hubby of 21 years who all keep me on my toes. An Air Force family for 14 years, we are now living in southern CA and slowly adjusting to life back in the "civilian" world. Our adventures are far from over, and life is not always easy, but we're in this together and God's got the ultimate plan, so who can ask for anything better than that?

  1. It sounds like you had a fun time with your boss’s birthday.
I know if it were me, I would appreciate the warning about the landlord. I generally feel the same way about warning off women when an abusive man is involved. If we know there is a problem, and we don’t warn them off giving them the chance to make an informed decision, then their heartache is on us, too. Maybe I’m just weird, but that is how I feel.
    Have a great day!

  2. It’s great to have a nice boss who appreciates people. I guess the rental situation is awkward. If I were the renter I might appreciate a heads up, but people are funny and you never know how someone will take your good intentions.

  3. Your practical joke…too funny! This past school year, the ladies who work in our Guidance department printed pictures of the administrator who runs the department and put them all over his walls…for his birthday. It was priceless!! Thanks for visiting my blog today! FYI, I dismantled my patio screen door. 🙂
